Passion - Two Dudes, People, Cameras, Olympics
January 25, 2010

Life often has unexpected consequences.
Take Allan Cole Roberts and Jakob Granqvist.
The year is 2006. Both are university students studying marketing and entrepreneurship in Sweden.
And as students often do are quaffing back cheap beers ($2 a pop) at the Corona - a student pub.
And over those beers they soon discovered they had a mutual passion - taking pictures.
And that sealed their friendship.
So when Allan moved back to Vancouver he not only coaxed his girlfriend to come back with him but also Jakob.
The idea was to explore the prospect of developing their passion and hobbyhorse as a business - photography.
Allan already had some success with taking portraits of people and doing wedding photography but now he wanted to kick it up a notch.
Jakob made the trek to Vancouver intrigued by the city and of course intrigued by the Olympics.
Both Allan and Jakob have a passion for taking pictures of people.
And out that was borne their latest project - Faces of the Games.
It came about because they asked themselves a fundamental question.
What can a couple of photographers do that is different and unique about Vancouver's Olympics?
So they decided why not photograph people from all over the world as they come to Vancouver.
It is a labour of love.
Each day somewhere in Vancouver they pick people, shoot them and post their pictures on their website.
The result?
A wonderful portrait of the world and its people.
Their project is a way of reflecting the world back to the world - all through their lens.
A wonderful concept - well executed and cool.
And the ideas and their execution keep changing - changing because people and the world are constantly changing.
See the people of the world in Vancouver. There are new ones and new themes every day.
See their other passion - wedding photo's and portraits.

But now that too has changed.
It's called Internet Archive and it is just what the name says it is.
Here you can check out all sorts of things that go way back into history.
And the archive site is well on its way.
